What Drives Electrician CAC Up or Down?
Several variables consistently separate electricians with a CAC under $200 from those spending $500 or more per customer.
Electricians who rely heavily on paid aggregators pay a premium per lead and often compete on the same platform against dozens of other contractors simultaneously. Owned channels like SEO and referral programs cost more to build but deliver substantially lower blended CAC over time.
Response time is the second most significant factor. Leads contacted within five minutes convert at dramatically higher rates than those contacted after an hour. A faster response rate lowers effective CAC without changing marketing spend at all.
Close rate by channel varies significantly and is often overlooked. An electrician spending $300 per lead with a 60% close rate has a lower CAC than one spending $150 per lead with a 20% close rate. Tracking close rate by channel, not just lead volume, is the clearest path to understanding true acquisition cost.
Seasonality affects electricians differently by market. Generator installation spikes in summer and fall. New construction follows local permit and housing market cycles. Understanding seasonal demand patterns allows for smarter budget allocation across channels throughout the year.
